“Joy is resistance. We resist the notion that our young men are anything less than our greatest hope for a brighter future.”
This castle is composed of Fanthropists. We have our houses, our close contacts and our acquaintances, but as fans of a magical world, we are all devoted to acts of goodness and kindness. Our community is vast, diverse, and complex, but with a common connective thread: one another. We are a widespread and wonderful family. As long as these walls stand, we will repeat again and again: all are welcome in this castle. All are welcome, seen, respected, loved, and encouraged to love themselves.
Many in the world around us — in our towns, workplaces, and schools — are not given the opportunity nor the encouragement to live their lives fully and as they want to. Such barriers rob people of their right to self-identify and self-express, and often impede their access to education, employment, housing, voting, and other basic rights.
Our charity partner for the next PHRC event is Trans Lifeline!
Trans Lifeline is a trans-led organization that connects trans people to the community, support, and resources they need to survive and thrive. Founded in 2014 as a peer-support crisis hotline, they have answered over 100,000 calls to date. They connect trans and questioning callers with trained trans operators at the most needed moments. Their efforts have grown to include targeted microgrants, which are low-barrier grants to trans people for legal name changes and updated government identification documents. As of this year, Trans Lifeline has disbursed over half a million dollars in microgrants to trans and nonbinary people with funds to cover the costs of updating and correcting names and/or gender markers on identifying legal documents.
Through proceeds from the next PHRC event, Trans Lifeline will further their work in these two critical areas: maintaining and staffing the Hotline for direct support; and providing additional microgrants to people around the United States.
Lives connected. Lives affirmed. Lives saved. Lives more fully lived.
Join us tomorrow at 12:00pm Eastern for the reveal of the sixth event of 2020, and get ready to pour our entire castle’s heart and energy into support for Trans Lifeline!
