“And they turned a corner and saw the thing for which Harry had been prepared, but which still brought all of them to a halt.”
Potterhead Running Club is pleased to present the first event of the 2020 season: Ironbelly 7k!
Our seventh year begins with the trio’s thrilling escape from Gringotts and the freeing of the Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon who had been forced to guard the lowest vaults.
Your registration includes this attention-grabbing 3″ ‘clanker’ (a real bell!) medal featuring the Ukrainian Ironbelly (“Iron-bell-y”…get it?) on one side, and our own version of the Gringotts crest on the other! As with every PHRC medal, there’s also the beautiful custom sublimated ribbon and the always-popular personalized digital bib!
Harry (and Hermione in the film) made a decision at a moment of extreme crisis to perform an extraordinary act of kindness by freeing the vault dragon from a life of enslavement. It is in this spirit that we are thrilled to announce that our charity partner for the Ironbelly 7k is Random Acts!
Random Acts was founded by actor Misha Collins in 2009, and gives rise to amazing things around the world every day. From small gestures, like inspiring someone to buy a stranger a cup of coffee, to much bigger acts of kindness such as building a school in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, all of these acts of kindness contribute to a bigger story, a message that Random Acts embodies and promotes: that you too can conquer the world, one random act of kindness at a time.
Our support of Random Acts will fund dozens of Sponsored Acts of Kindness. People submit their awesome ideas (that they cannot personally afford) for a potential act of kindness, and Random Acts coordinates the funding!
Our Charity Partner: Random Acts
“Would you be kind? Could you be kind? Won’t you free…a dragon?”
In the Muggle-world, one of our greatest champions of kindness was the neighbor that every kid wanted to have. So we decided to bring together Misters Rogers and Potter for a unique and incredible shirt. Available in multiple fabrics and styles from tees, to tanks, to hoodies, proceeds will also support Random Acts!
“Get up, climb up, come on –“
Remember that this is a ‘virtual’ active event, so you can complete your seven kilometer distance however, wherever and whenever you want! How? You can walk, run, skip, dance, or saunter. Where? You can do it around your neighborhood, at the gym, on the treadmill, or on your favorite trail. When? You can do it on a Monday night, a Thursday morning, or a Saturday afternoon. It’s all up to you!
For some extra fun, the optional ‘run day’ for the event is January 16: National Appreciate a Dragon Day! (How perfect is that?) If you want to join thousands of others around the world completing some or all of the distance on that day, you’ll be in some magical company!
Registration closes at midnight on Sunday, February 2. Medals will ship out the following week.
