When we explain to newcomers that virtual running events don’t have “winners”, that may not be entirely true. While our events are self-paced, and there is no competitive or ranking aspect to a Fanthropy virtual run, that doesn’t mean we aren’t surrounded by champions…like Bethany.⁣

She’s been a PHRC runner since 2015, with walking and running in countless events has been a part of every year to date. That alone makes her an inspiration to her “housemates”, but after this year’s “Quidditch Cup” event, she shared something much more:⁣

“I joined a gym Wednesday night, today I did my first 5k post cancer (on a treadmill, which is not my thing)! The last time I ran/walked more than two miles was the day I found out I had Stage 4 Neuroendocrine cancer (Sept 23rd, 2018). It’s been a hard time for me to get to physically (2 surgeries — appendix removed, pancreas lymph nodes removed and a liver resection in January) and mentally (a race and then that news messes with your head). But tonight because of Quidditch I did it, while wearing my ‘Become the Hero of Your Story’ shirt and nearly cried on the treadmill multiple times because I did it and I’m in remission!”⁣

It doesn’t matter whether you’ve just discovered the PHRC, or have been here since nearly Day One. You are surrounded by friends, colleagues, partners, kindred spirits, family…champions. We’re in this for you and with you.⁣

Every mile of the way. ❤️💛💚💙💜
